Our Commitment

Dr. Melissa Drake, MD is committed to ensuring that her website is accessible to all patients and visitors, including those with disabilities. We believe that everyone — regardless of ability — should be able to find clear information about concierge OB/GYN care, learn about our practice, and connect with us comfortably.

Conformance Standard

This website is designed to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.1 AA is the standard used by the U.S. Department of Justice, the European Union, and most healthcare organizations to evaluate digital accessibility.

What We’ve Done

  • Semantic structure. Pages use proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions, and descriptive labels so screen readers can navigate the site logically.
  • Color contrast. Text and interactive elements meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text).
  • Keyboard navigation. All interactive elements — links, buttons, forms — are reachable and operable using a keyboard alone. Visible focus indicators are provided.
  • Alternative text. Images that convey meaningful information include descriptive alt text. Decorative images are marked so assistive technology can skip them.
  • Forms. Contact and inquiry forms include clear labels, required-field indicators, and accessible validation messages.
  • Responsive design. The site scales gracefully across desktop, tablet, and mobile screen sizes, and tolerates zoom up to 200% without loss of content.
  • Motion. We avoid auto-playing media, flashing content, and animations that could trigger vestibular or photosensitive responses.

Ongoing Effort

Accessibility is not a one-time project. We test the site regularly using automated tools, manual keyboard reviews, and feedback from patients and visitors. When we identify barriers, we prioritize fixing them.
